Nintendo Sued Over Faulty DS AC Adapter

Back in January of 2007, a residency in Kentucky suffered substantial damage caused by a fire. The insurance provider compensated the homeowner, but now that insurance provider is looking for

compensation of their own. GamePolitics reports that Liberty Mutual is suing Nintendo for $236,304, alleging that a faulty Nintendo DS power adapter caused the blaze.

"The Product [the DS power adapter] was defective in design, manufacture and/or because it failed to warn consumers as to dangers associated with it," the complaint reads. It also notes that prior to the time of the fire, Nintendo issued a recall of some DS adapters due to overheating. This may not add much to their case, though, as the recall was limited to only around 200,000 DS Lites in Japan.

The suit was filed earlier this week in U.S. District Court, and in addition to the flat $236,304, Liberty Mutual is also seeking interest and restitution of court fees.
