Cyclowiz Review

 Introduction

The CycloWiz was the second Wii modchip to be announced, following on the heels of the Wiinja – however unlike the latter, it promised to sport a PCB with a quicksolder option, and an optional disable wire. Unfortunately for the CycloWiz, it suffered reputational damage because of certain affiliations, and on top of that, the WiiKey which was announced shortly afterwards promised more features on paper, such as being upgradeable via DVD, having region-free functionality, and having D2B chipset compatibility. The last setback was that when the CycloWiz started shipping, people discovered it had a bug which meant that a certain few games would suffer slowdown or not work altogether.

Taito DS Paddle Controller Review

Introduction

A reminisce of the glory days of Atari gaming, paddle controllers were key when it came to playing games like Pong, Breakout, and Space Invaders. The Taito Corp. offers a glimpse back into that decade with their newly released (well, a couple months old) Taito DS Paddle Controller. Currently supporting two games with a third-party hack for use with Mario Kart, and available in 4 colors, the Paddle fits into slot-2 and is compatible with both the original and Lite DS. Looks promising. Lets see how it is.

Wiikey Review

 Introduction

The Wiikey is one of the original first few chips announced, along with the Wiinja and CycloWiz. It was the first chip announced to include partial region free built in, and is arguably still one of the most advanced Wii modchips on the market.

As expected the Wiikey will allow you to play backups of Wii and GameCube games along with partial region free support. It is also fully upgradeable and will allow you to dump Wii games with an SD adapter.

Read the rest of the review to see how it fairs and for a few installation tips.

eWin Rumble Pak (Lite)

Introduction

Welcome back to yall.net hardware review. Today we'll be taking a quick look at the unofficial rumble pak made by the eWin team; a well known and respected team behind the successful series of eWin flash carts and accessories.

The eWin rumble pak is the only 3rd party rumble pak for the Nintendo DS. It's designed to be a cheap alternative to the official rumble pak by Nintendo which is currently only being sold in Japan. You'll find it available online through importers but at prices that aren't far off the cost of an actual game.
