How to Clean the laser lens on a PS2 Playstation 2

Clean the laser lens on a PS2

Why do this?

If you find that disks don’t load properly (you get "Disk Read Error"), or some disks load but others don’t, it may be that there has been a build-up of dust on the laser lens. This can best be removed by disassembling the unit and carefully cleaning the lens. This is a repair you can easily do yourself by following this step-by-step guide.

Note: This procedure involves removing the PS2 cover. This will invalidate the warranty. A tell-tale sticker will show the cover has been removed.

Step 1 – Try a quick check to see if the laser is dirty.

You may find that by opening the disk drawer and blowing hard into the player that you can dislodge some dust. If after doing this you find that the disk now works, the lens probably needs cleaning.

Step 2 – Assemble the tools you’ll need.
To perform this your’re going to need to remove the PS2 covers and clean the laser lens.

For this you’ll need:

1. Cross-point screwdriver (large)

2. Small flat blade screwdriver

3. Watchmaker's crosspoint screwdriver

4. Isopropal alcohol (isopropanol or Ethanol - similar to Methylated spirits)

5. Cotton buds

6. Manifier (Optioal)

How to replace your PSP analog stick

Disclaimer: Opening up your PSP will void your warranty! The following guide is meant to be informative and we accept no blame for any damage caused to your PSP if you decide to follow this How To.
Removing the Cover:
You will need a small Phillips (cross) screwdriver and ideally an anti static dust brush (available at PC stores) to replace your joystick on your PSP. Removing the cover of your PSP involves removing 5 small screws and the first three are fairly obvious. On the back of your case with the top facing away from you there are two screw holes, one toward the bottom of the case and one at the top right hand corner beneath the shoulder button. Next up, on the bottom of the PSP is a little silver screw that keep the front cover attached. Unscrew each of these and keep them somewhere safe.

How To Remove A Stuck Game From Xbox 360

How To Remove A Stuck Game From Xbox 360

Halo 3 is stuck inside your Xbox 360 and you want to get it out. There is a way to manually remove it. First you will want to unplug the power for a few minutes to let your Xbox reset. Re-attach the power cord and see if you can now eject your DVD.
If that did not work turn the power off and unplug it. Remove the face plate on you Xbox console. You will need a thick paper clip or something similar. Straighten one end of it out. With the face plate removed you will see 2 small holes right underneath the DVD player and one hole to the right.
Since Xbox uses 3 different DVD drives the procedure will vary. If you have a Samsung or Toshiba drive use the small hole on the right. Should be right underneath the X on the DVD drive faceplate. Push your straightened paper clip in the hole until you feel it hit the gear. The gear needs to be spun from left to right. Poke around until you find it then push in gently until you feel it move. You will see the tray start to move out.
For Hitatchi DVD drives go for the first hole on the left. Beng DVD drives will use the middle hole. This requires the most pressure to get the gear to turn. You will see the tray start to move.
Take your time and do not push too hard in case you are missing the correct spot. Once the tray starts to eject you can pull on it slightly to help it open. You should now be able to remove your Game.
Now why did your game get stuck in the first place? Could be a lot of different reasons. You may have to replace your DVD drive if you are having loading problems.
